Java Verified process Signing Testing R&D signing Submission Pre-submission checklist

You need to ...

  • Download and read the Java Verified Unified Testing Criteria
This is the set of tests against which your apps will be tested.
Make sure it complies. If it doesn't, it will fail.

  • Obtain a Publisher ID
The Publisher ID is a tamper-proof digital certificate that identifies the origin of your applications and authenticates the identity of the person or company providing it - ie you! It'll cost you $200 and it lasts a year.
If you've not yet done this, go to:
    http://www.trustcenter.de/en/products/tc_publisher_id_for_java_verified.htm
Read the Why and how to gain a Publisher ID pdf first.

  • Calculate the costs of testing, and selected and contacted a test house
See the testing section for more information.

  • Confirm that you have the necessary Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) to submit your app for testing
You don't need to submit proof to Java Verified, but by signing the Java Verified agreement when you first register to use the Submission Portal, you're stating that you have the necessary IPR.
  • Register on the Java Verified Submission Portal

  • Prepare a flow diagram in either gif or jpeg showing the following, for uploading into the Submission Portal
    1. Name of each section
    2. Description of each section
    3. How to get to each section
    4. Where to go from each section
    5. Where passwords are us

  • Prepare the information you need to complete the online questionnaire
We've put together a sample questionnaire in the Relevant resources section at the top right of this page.  It shows you the fields you'll need to complete online.  You'll also find a sample flow diagram there too.

  • Embed the Java Powered logo into your JAD file
If you want to use it, make sure you've embedded it before uploading. Inserting it later will break the signature of your app, and your application will not install.

  • Ensure that your app works exactly as you intend it to, and it complies with all the requirements there are for signed applications
For further detail, please refer to the Signing Java ME Applications pdf and look at our videos.  All of these can be found in the Relevant resources sections.

  • Register on the Java Verified Submission Portal
You'll need to register and complete and return a couple of Java Verified agreements: the Developer Agreement and the Trade Mark Licensing Agreement.
Sample copies of both are in the Relevant Resources section at the top right of this page.

Now submit.
